WisdomSay ("we", "our", or "us") operates the WisdomSay mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your username, email address (optional), country, and cultural heritage preferences. We do not require your real name.

Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the App, including proverbs read, regions explored, streaks, points earned, and feature interactions. This data is used to personalize your experience and track your progress.

Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and performance improvement.

We do NOT collect:

Location data (GPS)
Contacts or address book
Photos, camera, or microphone data (microphone permission is requested only if you choose to record a pronunciation, and recordings stay on your device)
Health or financial data
Advertising identifiers for ad targeting

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide, maintain, and improve the App
To sync your progress across devices via your account
To personalize content based on your cultural preferences
To send daily wisdom notifications (only if you opt in)
To process subscriptions and purchases through Apple's App Store
To respond to your feedback or support requests

3. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted on servers in the United States. Firebase employs industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.

Local data (preferences, reading history, streaks) is stored on your device using encrypted local storage and synced to your cloud account when available.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, data storage, cloud functions, and push notifications. Firebase Privacy Policy

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. We do not display ads in the App.

5. Data Sharing

We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

Leaderboards and Circles: Your username, avatar, country flag, and points are visible to other users on public leaderboards and within Wisdom Circles you join.
Wisdom Duels: Your username and scores are shared with your opponent during matches.
Service Providers: With the third-party services listed above, solely to operate the App.
Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process.

6. Children's Privacy

WisdomSay is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Access and Export: You can view your data in the App at any time (profile, reading history, stats).
Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings within the App, or by emailing us. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Notifications: You can enable or disable daily notifications in the App's settings or through your device settings.
Opt Out: You can use the App without creating an account, though some features (cloud sync, multiplayer) require one.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., total proverbs read across all users) may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

9. International Users

Your data is processed and stored in the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States. We comply with applicable data protection laws.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
